What are functional mushrooms, and how do they work?
Functional mushrooms are a category of mushrooms valued not for their culinary use, but for their naturally occurring bioactive compounds — like beta-glucans, adaptogens, and antioxidants — that support various aspects of health and wellbeing.
Unlike psychedelic mushrooms, functional mushrooms are non-hallucinogenic and have been used in traditional medicine for centuries. Modus products harness concentrated extracts of these mushrooms to support focus, energy, recovery, and calm in your daily routine.
Are your products natural? Where are your ingredients sourced?
All Modus products are formulated with high-quality, natural ingredients. Our mushroom extracts are sourced from trusted suppliers who meet rigorous quality and purity standards. We prioritize evidence-backed ingredient forms — like KSM-66® Ashwagandha and Suntheanine® L-Theanine — because the source and form of an ingredient matters as much as the ingredient itself.

What's the difference between the capsule line and the Dram tinctures?
The capsule line — Focus+, Ascend, Restore, and Steady — delivers precise, concentrated doses of functional mushroom complexes in an easy daily capsule. Each formula is purpose-built around a specific goal: focus, energy, recovery, or calm.
The Dram tinctures are a different experience entirely. These are 60ml liquid drops designed to be added to sparkling water or mocktails, creating a functional mushroom soda you can enjoy anytime. Think of them as a smarter, more intentional alternative to reaching for a sugary drink.
Can I take multiple Modus products at the same time?
Many of our customers combine products — for example, starting the morning with Focus+ and winding down with Restore in the evening. The formulas are designed with everyday use in mind.
That said, if you’re combining multiple products or are sensitive to any of the listed ingredients, we recommend reviewing the full ingredient lists and consulting a healthcare professional if you have any concerns.
Are your products third-party tested?
Yes, quality and transparency are non-negotiable for us. Our products are third-party tested to verify potency, purity, and safety. We believe you should know exactly what you’re putting into your body — no surprises, no shortcuts.
Usage & Experience
How long does it take to notice results?
Functional ingredients work differently than a cup of coffee — many of the benefits build gradually with consistent daily use. Some people notice a difference within the first week; for others, the most meaningful effects come after 3–4 weeks of regular use.
We recommend committing to at least 30 days to give your body time to respond fully, with peak results manifesting around the 60-90 day mark.
When is the best time to take each product?
As a general guide following the Modus Method:
- Focus+ — Morning, before mentally demanding work
- Ascend — Afternoon or as a pre-workout, when you need sustained energy
- Restore — Evening, as part of a wind-down routine
- Steady — Anytime stress or anxiety peaks — morning, afternoon, or evening
The Dram tinctures can be enjoyed at any time of day. Just add 2 full droppers to your favourite sparkling water and sip as you would any other beverage.
Do your products contain caffeine or stimulants?
None of our capsule and dram products contain added caffeine. Ascend includes Cordyceps and Eleuthero Root, which support natural energy and stamina through adaptogenic pathways rather than stimulation — so you get a lift without the jitters or the crash.
Are the Dram tinctures alcoholic?
Although minimal, unfortunately the Dram products do contain some alcohol content. To achieve high extraction ratios necessary for our products, an alcohol-based extraction process is employed; and also serves as a preservative to extend the products shelf life.
We are looking into alternatives, such as a glycerin-based extraction, to be inclusive for those who avoid alcohol, including those who are sober-curious or simply prefer a cleaner ingredient profile.
Health & Safety
Are Modus products safe to take with medications or other supplements?
While our products are formulated with safety and everyday use in mind, some ingredients — particularly adaptogens like Ashwagandha and Rhodiola — can interact with certain medications. If you are currently taking prescription medications or managing a health condition, we encourage you to speak with your doctor or pharmacist before adding our products to your routine.
Are your products safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Due to lack of safety studies and clinical evidence, we recommend against using Modus products during pregnancy or while breastfeeding without first consulting your healthcare provider. Several of our ingredients have not been sufficiently studied in these populations, and your physician is best positioned to advise based on your individual circumstances.
Are your products vegan, gluten-free, or allergen-friendly?
All Modus capsules and Drams are vegan and gluten-free. Full ingredient and allergen information is available on each product page. If you have a specific allergy or dietary concern, we encourage you to review the ingredient list carefully or reach out to us directly — we’re always happy to help.
Regulatory & Compliance
Are your capsules Health Canada approved (NPN licensed)?
Yes, all Modus capsule products carry a valid Natural Product Number (NPN) issued by Health Canada, which means they have been reviewed and approved for safety, efficacy, and quality. You’ll find the NPN displayed on every capsule product label.
Are the Drams a food or supplement product?
The Drams are classified as a food product under Canadian regulations. They’re designed to be mixed into sparkling water and enjoyed as a functional beverage. This means they follow Canadian food labeling standards, and you’ll find a familiar Nutrition Facts panel on every bottle rather than a supplement facts label.
Although 2 drops are recommended by us for every drink, this is not suggested as a supplement dosage, but as a way to achieve the intended taste.

Do you ship across Canada? What about the US?
We currently ship across Canada. US shipping is something we’re actively working toward — if you’re in the States and want to be the first to know when it’s available, sign up for our email list and we’ll reach out as soon as it launches.
What is your return or satisfaction policy?
We stand behind every product we make. If you’re not satisfied with your purchase, please reach out to us within 30 days of receiving your order and we’ll make it right. We review each case individually because we’d rather find a solution than leave you with something that didn’t work for you.
