Terms & Conditions
This is the agreement between you and Modus when you use trymodus.ca or order from us. It covers our products, orders and payment, shipping and returns, and what each of us can expect if something goes wrong.

The Basics
Who these Terms apply to, and the other pages that go with them.
Modus is a functional mushroom brand based in Victoria, British Columbia. We sell our products through trymodus.ca and ship them from Victoria. In these Terms, "Modus," "we," and "us" mean the business, and "you" means anyone who visits the site or buys from us.
When you browse the site, create an account at checkout, or place an order, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site or order from us.
Three other pages are part of these Terms and apply in the same way:
You need to be at least 18 to order from us. When you check out, you confirm that your name, contact details, and address are accurate, and that you're allowed to use the payment method you choose.
Our Products
How we describe our products, and the health information that comes with them.
We sell functional mushroom capsules and drams. Our capsules are natural health products, and each formula carries its own Natural Product Number (NPN) from Health Canada. Our drams are sold as food, so they carry a Nutrition Facts table instead of an NPN.
We work to keep the ingredients, doses, photos, and prices on this site accurate. Mistakes can still happen, and packaging can change between batches, so the label on the product you receive is the final word. We may update a formula or stop selling a product. When a formula changes, we update its product page.
Our products aren't meant to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Nothing on this site is medical advice, and results vary from person to person. Please check with a doctor or pharmacist before taking our products if you:
Are pregnant or breastfeeding
Take any medication
Have a medical condition
Have allergies
Always read the label. Follow the directions, don't take more than the recommended dose, and keep all products out of reach of children.
Orders & Payment
What happens after you check out, and the ways you can pay.
Your order
Placing an order is an offer to buy. The confirmation email means we've received it, and the sale is final on our side once we ship it and send your tracking details.
Cancelled orders
We may cancel an order if an item is out of stock, a price or description was wrong, the payment can't be verified, or the order looks like fraud or resale. If you've already paid, we refund you in full.
Address changes
Email help@trymodus.ca before the 2 PM Pacific cut-off on the day your order ships, and we'll update it.
Your account
Your account is created when you check out. Keep your password private, and tell us right away if you think someone else has used your account.
Payment
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and Interac e-Transfer. Card payments are handled by our payment processor, and we never see or store your full card number.
Interac e-Transfer
Send your order total to payments@trymodus.ca with your order number in the message. We ship once the transfer arrives.
Discount codes
One code per order unless the code says otherwise. Codes have no cash value, can't be added to past orders, and may end without notice.
Prices & Shipping
Prices, taxes, and getting your order to your door.
Prices are in Canadian dollars. We can change them at any time, but you pay the price shown when you place your order. If a price on the site is clearly wrong, we'll contact you before shipping, and you can go ahead at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.
Sales taxes are added at checkout based on your shipping address.
We ship with Canada Post to addresses in Canada. Rates, delivery times, and free shipping details are on our Shipping & Delivery page. Delivery times are estimates, and once your parcel is with Canada Post, delays from weather or carrier backlogs are out of our hands.
Outside Canada? Email help@trymodus.ca before ordering. Customs duties, import taxes, and brokerage fees are yours to pay.

Our products are taken by mouth, so opened items follow stricter rules than they would at most stores. Everything is laid out on our Returns & Refunds page.
Damaged or wrong item
We replace it or refund you.
Opened capsules or bundles
We offer store credit.
How refunds are paid
Refunds go back to your original payment method. If you paid by Interac e-Transfer, we refund you by e-Transfer.
Your rights come first. Our returns policy never limits the rights you have under British Columbia consumer protection law.
Using the Site
Please treat the site, and everyone else using it, fairly. If someone doesn't, we may block their access or cancel their orders.

Don't use the site for anything illegal or to harm anyone else.

Don't try to break into the site or overload it, and don't scrape it with bots or other automated tools.

Reviews should describe your own experience. When you post one, you let us show it on our site and social channels. We may remove reviews that are false, abusive, or off topic.

Please don't resell our products without our written permission.

The Modus name, logo, product names, photos, packaging, and site copy belong to us. Share links to our pages as much as you like, but please don't copy or reuse our content without asking.

Some links lead to services we don't run, like Canada Post tracking or our payment processors. Their own terms apply there, and we aren't responsible for what they publish.
The Legal Part
The standard terms every store needs, kept as short as we could make them.
Our promise
Our products are sold as described on their labels and product pages. As far as the law allows, we make no other promises about them, including that they'll suit your particular needs.
Our liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses from using our site or products. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for the order involved.
Your rights
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't legally be limited, or takes away rights you have under British Columbia's Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act or other consumer protection laws.
Your responsibility
If you break these Terms or the law and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with that claim.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
Disputes
If something goes wrong, please email us first so we can try to fix it. If we can't settle it together, the courts of British Columbia will decide, unless consumer law lets you go to court where you live.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time, and the date at the top of this page shows the latest version. Each order follows the Terms that were in place when you placed it.
If part doesn't hold
If a court finds any part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
