Modus Labs (“Modus,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a functional mushroom and wellness supplement brand based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. We operate the website at trymodus.ca and sell our products — including our capsule and tincture lines — directly to customers online.

We take privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit our website or purchase from us, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices available to you.

This policy is written in compliance with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, Canada’s federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Both laws govern how private-sector organizations in Canada may collect, use, and disclose personal information.

A note from us: We will never sell your personal information to third parties. Full stop. Our business is built on trust, and we treat your data with the same care we put into our products.

  • Order and transaction records are retained for a minimum of seven (7) years to comply with CRA tax requirements
  • Marketing consent records are retained as long as you remain a subscriber
  • Website analytics data is retained in anonymized form
  • Customer account information is retained while your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward in case of returns or inquiries

When your information is no longer needed, we dispose of it securely in accordance with BC PIPA’s requirements.

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These measures include SSL/TLS encryption on our website, secure payment processing through PCI-DSS compliant providers, access controls on our systems, and regular review of our security practices.

In the event of a privacy breach that poses a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC (OIPC) as required under PIPA.

Payment security: We never store your credit card details. All payment information is processed directly by our payment processor and is subject to their security standards.

You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. We will respond within 30 days.

Once your return arrives and passes inspection, we'll send a confirmation email and process your refund or store credit within 3–5 business days.

Children's Privacy

Our products are intended for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.
